Builders Helping Heroes

Program Description

Through its not-for-profit Builders Helping Heroes program, RI Builders Association members provide construction assistance to veterans with special housing needs. The program aims to help veterans wounded in combat operations since 9/11 adjust to life after being injured. Typical projects range from installing a wheelchair ramp to performing interior renovations to improve accessibility. Families of those killed in action since 9/11 are also eligible for renovation assistance.

Eligibility

  • Combat-wounded post-9/11 veterans. (Veterans eligible for the Purple Heart.)
  • Dependents of service members killed in action post-9/11.
  • Construction must take place on primary residences in RI.
