Military Family Support Dog

Program Description

Military family support dogs provide physical and emotional support to veterans and military families who are in need of a companion to improve their quality of life and/or familial relationships.


  • Be Active Duty Military or a Veteran.
  • Have the support and referral of your Health Care Provider for obtaining a Military Family Support Dog.
  • Be able to describe your need for a MFSD to help facilitate family relationships.
  • Be willing and able to provide for the dog’s physical, emotional and financial needs.
  • Strive to have a positive, “can do” attitude and effectively implement emotional regulation tools/techniques as needed.
  • Have a relatively stable home environment and support of all other household members.
  • Be financially stable.
  • Have an open mind and willingness to learn.
  • Be able to attend an intensive two (2) week Team Training Camp at WCC headquarters, as well as cover airfare, accommodations, and transportation.
